Arteesel Review | Summary:

If you're somewhat intuitive, you might have already deduced the meaning behind the name "Arteesel." It's a play on the words Art (referring to the designs) and Easel (a stand used to display the art). As we discovered from their Help/FAQ section, humans are the easels who display the t-shirts (the canvases for the art). The name sort of works on some levels, but only after their intended meaning is fully understood.

The rest of the site features a simple, uncluttered design that is a little plain but still visually effective. After all, the t-shirts are what matters most, and Arteesel does a fairly decent job of presenting them. Functionally, my biggest complaint is with the site's main page. You have to click on each t-shirt twice before being taken to the individual Buy Page for each Arteesel shirt. The first click shows the title and price, the second click takes you to the purchase page. In reality, the titles and price should be easily visible on the main page upon loading. After having worked for more than a decade in the industry, that extra click is enough to thwart the interest of some customers. I know that seems like an exaggeration, but it's not. The one thing that impressed me during my research for this Arteesel review is how thorough the Arteesel FAQ section is. The company is very straightforward in explaining things like returns, exchanges, etc.

It will be interesting to see what designs they feature in the future. The first few Arteesel shirts were more of a graphic tee style (think Threadless and DesignbyHumans), but they clearly have begun to head into a more geek-centric realm like most other t-shirt deal sites.
